A Peaceful Hero
Raoul Wallenberg was perhaps the most successful of the peaceful heroes of the Second World War. He saved as many as 100, 000 Jews from the Hungarian Fascists and the occupying Nazis. At the risk of his own life, the Swedish diplomat provided passports for thousands of Hungarian Jews, and sheltered fleeing families in houses that were designated as Swedish property. Wallenberg completely disregarded his own safety in order to help those being persecuted. If anyone is to be regarded as a hero, it is him.
